The HMR consists of a group of enthusiastic people in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales who have a common interest in Model Engineering and combine it with operating a miniature railway. The HMR membership consists of people from different employment backgrounds who enjoy model engineering and are eager to promote the hobby within the community.
The types of model engineering projects undertaken by members include miniature live steam locomotives, miniature diesel and electric locomotives, stationary steam engines and boilers, miniature live steam traction engines and steam machinery.
